The first and largest project we were asked to complete during term 4 was the windmill project. we were asked to create a wind powered windmill that would spin efficiently and not fall down. The top two windmills would receive a toy helicopter. Me, Dylan, and Ryan worked together on this project. We originally decided to create a windmill by making a concrete form and putting four pieces of wood in there. How ever the pieces of wood did not dry properly so we had to redesign. As you can see by the pictures we had to completely destroy what were working on and start over. Mr.Ramos helped us by giving us the idea to make a tower out of sheet metal. What we did was wrap the sheet metal around a cylinder shaped piece of wood and then attach each end. We did that with success and then put the tower into concrete. This time it dried right. Then we started to make a platform for our propeller. We did that by carving one out at the band saw. We had finished everything and just needed to attach the motor when our propeller and platform were stole. We could not finish or compete in the contest. Although we did not completely finish i feel as though we did meet our engineering goal.
